R. Kelly Promoter Ordered To Pay Ne-Yo $700,000 For Contract Breach

A Los Angeles judge today (September 2) ordered a Georgia based tour promotion company to pay over $700,000 to R&B singer Ne-Yo for breaching a contract related to R. Kelly’s ‘Double Up’ tour.

Ne-Yo sued Rowe Entertainment Inc. in March claiming that someone from R. Kelly’s camp asked the company to kick him off the tour because he was outshining Kelly.

Ne-Yo claimed Rowe had agreed to pay him $785,000 for appearing on the ‘Double Up’ tour.

According to The Los Angeles Times, Judge Malcolm Mackey signed a $700,320 default judgment against Rowe Entertainment on Tuesday for failing to respond to the lawsuit.

When news of Ne-Yo’s lawsuit surfaced, Kelly’ s camp denied having anything with the singer’s removal from the tour. Kelly was not named as a defendant in the lawsuit.
